Introduction

Create your own light up Laser Cat using an LED and a straw! This light up Laser Cat card only takes minutes to make and is activated by a paper switch.

  1. We bought these clear straws from Amazon. You can also use colored straws, but if you do that be sure to only use white LEDs so they'll shine through the straw better. Most 5mm LEDs should fit into the straw just fine, though if you want the LED to go in all the way you'll need to cut a small slit in the end of the straw. (You don't need to do this, but it may be helpful if you're using colored straws.) We used a thin line of hot glue to hold down the straws. We recommend slightly rolling each straw once it's down to help spread out the glue. When using  clear straws the glue reflects the light and gives it a fun look.

    • In general build this project in this order: Color or decorate your card, poke LED legs through the paper, add tape and battery, add then the straws.

    • Note: If you are using thicker paper (such as cardstock) we recommend using a large safety pin to poke the holes in the paper to put the LED legs through.
